Hi just wanted to see what the current popularity and thinking was on gaming the SCW. Have tried in 15mm, skirmished in 20mm with the old Bandera range and now exploring the opportunities of larger company sized engagements in 10mm with the Lardies "I aint been shot mum" rules. It seems to be a distinctly niche subject, but with so much becoming available from notables such as Pendraken and Minairons in 1/144,wondered what others thought?

May go with CoC later on, but having dome some mid sized games, battalion plus, fancy attempting this at a similar level. Just posting as SCW does seem to be perceived as a predominantly skirmish period. Wondered if anybody out there was trying it at a larger strategic scale.

Am aware of the Peter Pig rules and set up, just wanted to get a feel if there was anything else around.

Lovely figures and set up gbowen though, superb work.

I'm a big battle kind of guy so my SCW gaming is generally grand tactical or operational – brigade up to multiple Corps.

15mm.

Rules, whatever is appropriate for the scale of game. I've generally had a lot of luck with grand tactical WW1 rules (Square Bashing, Great War Sperhed et al) which take very few mods to convert to SCW.

I've never done any SCW skirmish. Can't see the appeal.

The very first SCW game I ever played back in the 1970s (using an awful lot of converted Airfix figures) was battalion level.

Spain in flames is pretty good. There's even a v4 update sheet to bring it into line.

Thanks guys, 15mm at multi corps level must mean a very large table?

Skirmish has it's merits however I want to explore a larger tactical scale with rolling Spanish hillside and wide open flanks for the cavalry and tankettes to roam around. Also impressed with the range of N scale terrain available.

For me (and in Portugal) it is always in 20mm (Bandera & Minairons) plus using something akin of Rapid Fire! in terms of organizations, but an adapted Force on Force game engine.
