Does miniature wargaming count as a 'martial art'? |

It depends on whether you are taking the name, "Martial Art", literally, or not. If literal, then, Yes, as it is based on military art, or, the art of war. If by "martial art", you mean physical, hand-to-hand combat techniques, then, No. Cheers! |

Depends on your definition of "martial art". The one I'm familiar with is "a skill used for self-defense or combat, usually also practiced as sport". So…no. However, a really good logistics team or a fine painting of Napoleon (maybe on a horse during a battle) may qualify as "art of a martial nature". Depends on how you want to parse your words. |

Only in the sense that if you hit someone with a sufficiently sized metal miniature (especially one with a brass pike), there might be some pain involved. |

None of our games have gotten at all physical much less that physical. I would have to say no. |

Perhaps not the way you play but for the military war games are a key part of successfully practicing the art of war. Which is the only real "martial art ", individual hand to hand practice fights are great for many things – just that they are not Real Martial Art. That being said I understand common usage. |

Yes-we are applying the principles of martial arts: Situational Awareness, Assessing a Threat, Making a Decision, Applying Knowledge and Tradition into a Operational Method based on Experience, Taking Action, Following Through and adapting to the consequences of your actions, Reflecting and Learning for future decision making. Not to mention focusing Chi when you roll dice or flip a card and taunting your opponent a second time. "I am regroupng my forces into a Army of Astounding Magnitude and your dice rolling is no good!!!!"-Sifu Skippy, Master Of The Flying, Spinning, Inverted Crescent Kick Which For Some Reason Always Dislocates My Own Hip Technique…..still working on it…. |

I used the Quivering Palm on my die before I rolled it. Last time I didn't do that, it rolled a 1. |
