Do you remember a time when there was a wargame tournament that filled a basketball stadium and some games had to be played in adjoining rooms?
Or was that just a dream I had? A figment of my imagination?

And there still are huge Wargames tournaments in the UK!

Games Expo which takes over the NEC in June has over 1000 miniatures competitors in over 20 historical and fantasy gaming systems. Plus there is the London Grand Tournament in September with for a weekend will take over the National Indoor Athletics Arena in the Lea Valley with a further 100 historical and fantasy gamers.

In addition the BHGS (British Historical Gaming Society) run several major events with between 140 to 180 gamers at events such as Roll Call and Britcon. And finally, let's not forget the rules specific events that are run for games like Bolt Action and WH40k that often have well over 100 entries.

Love them or hate them, Tournament Events are thriving in the UK and the old stereotype of over-competitive, aggressive, rules lawyers is a long extinct species!.

I no longer play competitions mainly due to time constraints but when I did, I loved them!
