Great AAR!
It really changes the game when you reach heavy casualties. Especially trying to maneuver green troops.

Sgt Steiner21 Apr 2019 4:29 p.m. PST

Thankfully no Green troops mostly Veterans but still a bind getting anything better than a Tardy Manoeuvre and often a danger of Falling Back

Old Contemptibles21 Apr 2019 5:14 p.m. PST

How big are the regiments in these rules?

14th NJ Vol21 Apr 2019 6:04 p.m. PST

Played this scenario a couple years ago, fun battle. That Yankee artillery is tough. Good job on you scenario looks great.

Thanks for the AAR! Looks like a great game with one of my favorite ACW rules systems.

Hi Rally Now

Regts vary on average from understength/small around 6-8 bases up to full rota/large 10-14 bases.
Regts degrade in numbers thru losses ie base removal
You could probably play with rosters or loss markers if nessecary.

Old Contemptibles22 Apr 2019 7:45 p.m. PST

Wow those are huge regiments. My regiments are mostly 5 stands. That's the only thing that keeps me from trying out these rules. What is the figure ratio?

Old Contemptibles22 Apr 2019 8:07 p.m. PST

I finally found my copy. Never played them. The ratio is 1:40 in stands, looking at the scenarios, I see a lot of six bases, on up to 16. I would have to start completely over. I can combine some of my regiments that are generic. But most of my regiments I painted for specific units.

You would need a lot of figures and a lot of room for something like the 1st day of Gettysburg. A battle I have done many times with JR2. I did Antietam with JR2. Can't imagine doing it with these rules.

great AAR and outing for this scenario.

This is one that I have looked at for gaming in the "near future."

thanks for sharing!

Great looking AAR!

Rallynow,

Regimental is designed for smaller actions or parts of larger battles.

If you wanted to do First Day of Gettysburg you would use Brigade F&F unless you were just doing action around Lutheran Seminary or something like that.

Here is my version of Gettysburg First day using Brigade rules.

We recently did the same battle using the set up from Bullets & Dirt by Potomac Publications (Wargame Vault) and Rally Round the Flag ruleset
