Interesting that rubbing someone is considered "battery."

The difference between harassment and flirting is if she/he is attracted to someone it's flirting. If not … is harassment. Sounds humorous … but seems to be true.

Battery:
"1. In criminal law, this is a physical act that results in harmful or offensive contact with another person without that person's consent."

Grabbing her ass or honking her boobs would both be considered "battery".
I guess the guy considers himself God's Gift to the ladies.

The incident started in a bar, so I'm sure alcohol was involved, and we all know how much more attractive we become after a few drinks. Or more than a few drinks.

@Legion4: Smiles, eye contact, and compliments are flirting moves. Stroking the butt of someone you just met is never a flirting move. Pretty much the only time you can do that is when the recipient is a professional companion that you've just hired.

Where I'm from, bum groping is considered 4th degree criminal sexual conduct.

Well an old USAF pilot told me … "Go ugly early … avoid the rush …" huh? Of course that could work for either sex I'd think …

Yeah that is clearly wrong …

Which was never addressed in the article, since the assault was against a "jail employee". Most jurisdictions increase the severity of/penalties for offenses that are conducted against peace officers in the conduct of their duties.

Many jurisdictions also elevate severity/penalties when the offense was conducted against someone in their non-enforcement place of work.

As an adult in a place of public accommodation, you have a lot of options on how you engage or disengage with offensive people. At your work, your options are more limited. If you work in enforcement, you tend to start with a biased population in the first place.

Yes, interesting that a word which originally referred to beating, pounding or striking someone is now applied to inappropriate touching.
