I'm looking into building a Scottish Saga army to fight my Vikings. Does anybody sell a tower (broch), buildings, or walls for a Scottish Dark Age fort in 28mm? Scratch building is also an option, if you know of any examples or directions. Grelber |

Several outfit make Pele towers but that's too late for "Dark Ages" |

Most Scottish Dark Age construction will look like other general British construction. Broch towers from the far north are a little different. buildmodelcastles.com has plans for one, and there are some 3D versions out there as well. It's hard to search for, the Web wants me to look at "brochures". |

I built a tower a little while ago out of blue-board. More medieval than broch but similar. It is for sale but you could easily enough build one o yourself out of that same material. A step-by-step can be found here link |

monolith designs… [is] now out of business. ??como?? Hmmm, maybe that explains it. I was trying to buy some of his "Trojan War" models, and he suddenly just stopped replying to my emails w/out so much as a "by your leave," or a "kiss my !!!" Sigh… SGMM went out of business suddenly, and I was just talking to him at his booth at a Con' not a month or so beforehand!! I guess it's a sign of the times -- we have a halfway decent economy right now, but the hobby is "aging!" Or at least its "vendors" are!!! |

A lot of good insights and ideas. I'm starting to think of a compound and tower, using the plans from buildmodelcastles.com if nobody brings out a tower. I'm also thinking I should look into other types of towers, not limit myself to a broch. Inside the wall, a couple small buildings like the Wargames Scenics houses. I'm concerned about the weight of building with realrocks, but Woodland Scenics makes "rocks" using pumice, which is much lighter than the rocks around my house, and that might work. Grelber |

Have you looked at Grandmanor stuff- grandmanner.co.uk Seem a bit pricey especially as they mainly just do pre painted stuff, still good stuff. I got some just before he changed over to painted and got the raw resin versions I needed. Another idea is to look at 3D printed stuff, either get the plans and find a company that does custom printing ( they are out there, haven't used any myself ). Sometimes the plans are free and other times you can buy them and there is a link on same page to get it printed for you. Not sure of the costs involved in printing , but maybe worth a quick google around. |

I have an actual Broch and some turf roofed houses – bought from the old Claymore, but probably not actually made by them. |

There are some very nice 3d buildings out there. Not sure how cost effective it is though comparing buying a printed item with buying a printer and everything that goes with it. |
