Watching the last battle in John Wayne's Alamo (1960).
Never seen so many left handed shooters in my life.
Even the Duke shot lefty a couple times.

Maybe my unit of left handed Celts aint so unusual

You were probably watching it backwards. Spin your TV around and see if that's better.

I thought this thread might have been about politics. In which case communists are considered at the far left of the political spectrum. And as we all know, the most populous communist country in the world is China.

Unless during editing some of the film was reversed?

Chalfant,
Oh I am quite sure that is the issue – they just did it so much it looked stupid

Tony S14 Apr 2019 3:30 p.m. PST

What!? Is that an anti-left handed slur? Are we of the sinister persuasion being called stupid?

I am immediately writing the editor a letter to dawghouse all of you. Sadly, since I am left handed, my penmanship is so dreadful that he will be unable to decipher it. Curse you my left handed genes!

(When I was a young lad in school, I remember an older teacher who kept suggesting I try writing with my right hand. I think he truly regretted the laws that forbade him from beating me for using my left hand to write).

The Tin Dictator14 Apr 2019 4:31 p.m. PST

There's a law against that?
Hmmm….. note to self…………..

Probably for the camera angle and background.

The very first issue of Miniature Wargames has a photograph of a whole regiment of left-handed Napoleonic Carabiniers on its front cover.

Yep that is true for me too … my handwriting is horrid ! You'd think I was a Medical Dr. ! huh?

10% of the world's population are thought to be left handed, so that would make about 18 (?) of the Alamo garrison thus?

Old Wolfman16 Apr 2019 7:09 a.m. PST

Often times, the shoulder-arms position was carried out with the left hand as per some of the tactical manuals up to the ACW era.

No this is pretty obvious "film flipping"
If for no other reason than the locks are on the left side too.
Also many of the Mexicans have same issue.

In my short time in Reserves, lefties had a problem with the M16 and had to have brass deflectors. I could see a musket having same issue – the firing of the lock would burn half your face off. I would bet lefties shot righthanded anyway – just for that reason.

Yeah with my sleeves up I've had hot M16 shell casings burn my forearm… frown

And guitarist Dick Dale was a southpaw also,as was Jimi Hendrix.
