…The Rise of Skywalker, the End of a Saga Begins

"The force has awoken. The last of the Jedi has relit the spark for a new generation beyond him. And now it's time for the Skywalker Saga to come to a close with The Rise of Skywalker, 42 years after we first stepped into the galaxy far far away—and we finally have our first look at the film.

Lucasfilm has just officially confirmed that the ninth chapter of the main Star Wars saga will be subtitled The Rise of Skywalker, as well as given us our first tiny teaser of what we can expect from this culmination of decades of Star Wars storytelling. Check out the first look below! (Here's the tweet in case you can't view.)…."

Disney is to Star Wars what nonalcoholic is to beer.

So before he 'died', Luke went out and sired a bunch of babies that will become the next generation of Jedi? ;-)

My jaw did not drop. Unless yawning counts?

Yeah – my immediate impression is, childish writing…again…

Rey standing in the middle of (yet) another desert and a TIE fighter (TM) is heading right for her, obviously intending to kill her but, not firing?!?

Probably the only saving grace – LANDO!

The only good news is that it's the last installment of the "Skywalker Saga".
When "fans" get so outraged that they can not tolerate a remorseful and bitter Luke, ashamed of "the foul evil things he had done", it's time to put a stake in it.

No thanks. Just..no. Why does someone run someone else over on a desert planet with a space superiority fighter? Why not shoot? Jedi are strong but even they can't deflect anti-ship weapon class.

Waitaminut…is Rey even a Jedi?! Wth? Who taught her to use Force leaps? Wait..what are they searching for? The Rebs..re..Resistan…Resistors? *sigh* The trailer already has too many stupid questions.

Yeah..no thanks. It's just not my deal anymore.

Wah, wah, wah, its not they Star Wars of my childhood. The usual moans. Personally I will see a film before complaining about it. Star Wars was never a great story. It always had rubbish dialogue and generic storylines. The recent 3 have been no different from any of the others for that and have been considerably better than the 3 prequels.

Force awakens was okay, the last Jedi was Bleeped text poor and probably the worst of the Star Wars movies…..so I'm lukewarm over any news about the next one, maybe JJ Abrams can salvage enough from the mess of the second movie to get out another okay movie.

Have people been asleep at the movies in the last 30-40 years ?

First of all Rey being a Skywalker after all is very much Star Wars, remember Obi Wan's ghost backtracking after Vader told Luke the truth "From a certain point of view" ?

That being said the art of storytelling involves among other things foreshadowing something with an unexpected reveal. Chekov's gun doesn't need to be used straight from the box.

Rey could be one of Palpatine's clones or whatever they came up with.

She could even be the reincarnation of Annakin Skywalker.

I'm not discarding the idea that Rey is a Skywalker, but I do expect a major twist to the matter.

I can't imagine how she would be. The only potential relatives, in that case, haven't given any indication that she possibly could be, have they?

Zephyr115 Apr 2019 3:17 p.m. PST

Always the possibility that Leia had a baby & gave her up for adoption without anybody knowing… ;-)

Tango0116 Apr 2019 12:05 p.m. PST

Maybe Leia had twins?…..

Personally I like that angle… but without anybody knowing…including Leia? Seems like a stretch to me at this point.
