I've submitted the following games for the Historicon HMGS convention (Lancaster PA USA, July 11-14).

Seize the fuel station!

The ESU is preparing an assault on the strategic system of Chi Draconis, which is an NAC stronghold. To facilitate this, the ESU needs to capture a nearby fuel refinery station. Unfortunately, there are NAC forces in the area. Can the ESU destroy or drive off the NAC defenders, or will NAC forces prevail and save the station?

This is an introductory level game of Full Thrust, using the Full Thrust Lite rules. Beginners to veterans are welcome. Children 10 years or older are welcome with an accompanying adult.

Friday July 12, 2-4pm, 4 players.

Second scenario:
Stealing Secrets, or will they?

A derelict vessel that travelled to our universe from an alternate timeline is discovered by the NAC. It is brought to an shipyard to discover its secrets. The ESU sends forces to conduct a boarding action against the shipyard and seize the ship for themselves since it represents major technological advances. The UNSC, discovering this brazen act of aggression, sends forces to assist the beleagured NAC defenders. Will the ESU board and seize the shipyard and derelict and gain the technological advantage, or will they be defeated? There will be boarding actions in this scenario.

This is an intermediate level game; while beginners are welcome, a working knowledge of the Full Thrust rules is strongly recommended. Children 10 years or older are welcome with an accompanying adult.

Saturday July 13, 1-6pm, 5 players.

From personal (and anecdotal) experience with kids in a non-gaming context, you may not want the parents accompany the kids. If the kids need to be corrected, it can be done simply and respectfully, unless the parents are there. Then it becomes a major event.

Otherwise, sounds like fun.

I got to experience unaccompanied little brats first hand with a 7-year old and a Battletech game. The GM was too chicken to ask the kid to leave because he was acting out and ruining everything for the rest of the players. The parent came back about 3 hours into the game and left again. The kid didn't really have the maturity to be a) be playing an advanced Battletech scenario, and b) the maturity to not act out all the time.

I started my boy on conventions at age 6, and only now at age 10 would I consider leaving him unattended for awhile. He can play Full Thrust with a little help, but I suspect he is atypical in that regard.

So older accompanied kids are alright, but not young unaccompanied ones. I'm not a babysitter, but a game master after all.

Beat me to it. Hopefully I can make it out there and play a game.

Both games have been cancelled.

Ya, it seems you and the other players were the babysitting service while the Dad went and had fun. It's on him too.
