I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on TMP yet that Fireforge has announced that it will be releasing a boxed set of medieval peasants… albeit in its fantasy range. From the pre-release images on the website I can't see any issues with using these figures in historical games. |

With their latest sets coming in August that will only have 12 foot or 6 mounted I fear the prices will be high (possibly the same as their older 12 mounted). This is what Victrix has done. The prices of the figures are now the same price as metals. Metal figures do not break like these plastic ones do. |

To my experience, plastic minis are far more resilent then metals, as the weight of the mini itself is way less. That said, the price on the latest Victrix Vikings is around 60c, for very fine minis. I admit that SOME sets are more expensive, though. The peasant rabble has 18 minis per box, which puts them at twice the price of Perry or Victrix sets, and I fear they do offer far less options. Nonetheless I have a couple of boxes on preorder – you cannot go wrong with peasants from ancient to early modern times. If Victrix or the Perrys would release such a set I would rejoice… |

Seems like they have been pulled from the website? |

The link above still works. They are in progress and I did not see a release date. The price is a lot more than Victrix and Perry. I wish I found my plastic miniatures more resilient … Old Glory has a wide range of peasants that are very nice.
Yes, different style of sculpting, but when you factor in the OG Army Membership discount the price is reasonable. |

Yes, I have most of the OG great unwashed masses – but some people just prefer plastic. |

Most fantasy is based upon historical. Either ancient or medieval. Yes, I think these peasants, "rabble" as they put it, would be perfectly fine as medievals based upon the image I have seen. In fact, maybe more so historically accurate the woman shown is modestly attired. |

To add a bit more, based upon my reflections, I think Fireforge's common sense approach to making the weapons thicker to prevent breaking is a wise approach. I know GW does this. Some plastics makers (most notably Wargames Factory) made their weapons closer to scale, as did Warlord, leaving many to break and cause frustration. These are game pieces. They are meant to be handled. Therefore they need to be resilient. I do not think the size and thickness of the accessories detracts from the figures (nor does the oversized heads, hands and feet we are so used to – mind you, some really over-over sized heads, hands and feet look ridiculous but these seem to have a nice aesthetic). |
