Holy cow their tiny

But there are a lot of them!
I need to put in another order to the printer; I need more supply wagons to mark strength loss, plus a few other odds and ends. When I'm done it should look pretty cool. They'll go on terrain like this:

Looks spectacular.

Thanks! I'm doing 1813-1814, so the armies will include Austrians, Prussians, and Russians against the French. Should be lots of stuff to look at on the table.

Has a board game look and does look fantastic on the aerial view map.

Strikes me that what is so impressive is that this does not look like board game actually. Not just counters and pictures of terrain, this is really 3D and the end result is so near to realistic. I do see what you mean about what I assume are contour lines. But I love the streams winding through the tress and those villages/towns. A scale effect not so easily achieved in larger figures and table models.

The contour lines are a necessary evil. My thought is that at 2m, the "contours" that can have a real tactical effect would hardly be visible to the naked eye, and are so [ugly] difficult to model that going flat and creating a map is just better.

My next big set-up is going to be the Katzbach. It will be an 8' x 4' board. The map in the picture above is 6' x 6', to give some idea. I'm using the FPGA scenario which assumes 3" square bases, but these brigade pieces are only 2" wide, roughly, so my board will have more open space than Sam's scenario calls for. I just put in an order for the pieces I'm still missing (skirmishers, battalion HQs, and spply wagons). They should be here in a week or so. I'm going to try to have everything else painted when they arrive so that I can get it on the table as soon as possible and get some pictures up. On a marketing level, I think that I need to start illustrating exactly how 2mm can be used to play established games, quickly and cheaply.

Nothing wrong with contour lines. How daft would these figures look at a 45 degree slope? We have heard about flexible roads in the last 24 hours, if someone comes up with flexible figures bases…well maybe.

I think, at the scale shown, contour lines are at least as good as a layer cake look of scenery bases. Go to Waterloo and see how "steep" is that slope (No, forget the Mound…it maybe took 6-10 feet off the top). Tiny contours made a difference back then.

Your work almost wants me to go back to throwing dice
