This slipped by me, and perhaps others:

Pontoonier Miniatures, who makes mostly 28mm figures, has a line of 18mm VSF.
It is under the name"French Army of Napoleon III"

It features classic French colonial types in gas-masks.
Foreign Legion, Zouaves/Turcos, and even Guard Grenadiers.

This is not a company I have been watch so a random encounter lead me there. Badger Games is the sales point:

Cool find! Thanks for the heads up. Are you going to nab some? Would like to seem them painted up.

I stumbled across those by accident as well.

Oh, those are cool!!!

Might have to show those to a roommate.

Nearly .70 cents per figure? Strange how one can find 15mm figures as low as .35 cents, and then the price is doubled for this range. No thank you!

Maybe, but it covers a void I've been feeling of late. *sigh*

@Buckeye.

Because those $0.35 USD a mini figures haven't increased price since about 2000, and the price of tin has gone up an order of magnitude since then.

~$0.70 a mini is on par with AB Napoleonics and others that are sold through normal retail channels, as opposed to only-available-direct-from-maker.

Cool figures. I might have to beef up my Martian Empires armies.

Complaints about price are the thing that I hate most about this hobby. 18mm French VSF is about as niche a market as you can find. They aren't going to sell a ton of them, so they are going to cost more per unit.

Be glad that someone spent a lot of time, effort, and money on a line that might never break even. If you can't afford them, move on.

Wow, I really like these and would be very temped to get some for my All Quiet on the Martian Front armies. A shame there's just infantry, though.

Does anyone have comparison photos of them with Essex 15mm figures?
Or against Blue Moon?
