"Between January 28 and 29 some viceroyal patrols have met with countrymen who informed them that English troops had occupied the towns of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe(Our Lady of Guadalupe) and San Jose. From details of these same countrymen, it was learned that the British had demanded food and livestock from the civilians, offering to pay for them but if they refused, they also would made compulsory requisitions…."
