As part of the Siege of Tsingtao project, I need figures to represent the 5th company of the 3rd Battalion of German Marine garrison. The German military organize table established a battalion as having 3 infantry companies and a 4th company being the marine guns. The Sea Soldiers' 3rd battalion had a 5th company that was mounted. This company was very active early in the campaign in attempt to delay the Japanese advance on the city.

As to the figures (28mm); No one produces any figures for this uni, so I to result to converting my own. The base figure is the North Star Chinese War Lord cavalry figure with a head swap from the Copplestone Miniatures German Marines. The bayonets from the Marine castings was also used. The Chinese cavalry figure comes wearing puttees, these had to be reworked into boots. The mounts comes with very little in the way of furniture. So I had to make the pommel boxes and bed rolls. Hope you like them.

Those look really good, any bigger photos of them?

Not sure if I enlarge them how the board would handle it.

Outstanding job! Please keep us updated with your Tsingtao project. Judging from your membership profile, it looks like we have interest in similar periods.

Just think what John Wayne would have made of these guys. Be a Marine, fight Japanese, and ride a Horse.

I tried a way to enlarge an image that wouldn't effect the board any differently than a regular posting.
