The Indian Mutiny. It's cool, it's pretty and Iron Duke's figures are exquisite.

However, for those already heavily invested in the Northwest Frontier what is the motivation to game the period?

Presumably, one doesnt need to have even more units of natives in off white or khaki just to repeat NWF-ish battles with a twist?

For these gamers hankering after Mutiny figures and units, is it better not to game skirmishes ala TSATF rules and instead to treat the Mutiny as a small scale battles with fixed units?

And if that is the case, what rules work? Napoleonics with an edit to cover rifle ranges for the British?

Apart from the larger scale of the battles in the Mutiny, wouldn't a major difference from NWF be the presence of swarms of irregular cavalry? Those factors plus the generally flatter more open terrain should make for games of a different flavour.

We have had some excellent games of Sikh Wars, Indian Mutiny etc using the "Bloody Big BATTLES!" rules (BBB). However, if you want to use 28s, BBB may not be what you are looking for (though there are folks who do play BBB in 28mm).

Good luck with your project.

Chris
