Hope you like the German MFP Ausf D models I've completed here -

These started out as Warlord Italian Motozattera models that I cut the wheel houses off of, fitted out with German guns from the KM weapons pack, and built up as mid-to-late war German D variants, that won't look out of place if I want to use them for A models for 1942 actions.

Next on the painting table will be to finish up an Artilleriefahrprahm to serve as a heavier-armed escort to these MFPs in upcoming missions. Really love this interesting coastal naval stuff – it's fun to research, model, and to see out on the gaming table!

Looks great as always, just need some torpedoes strapped on the side! :)

FlyXwire01 Apr 2019 5:12 p.m. PST

Better schooner than later. :P

D A THB01 Apr 2019 5:18 p.m. PST

They look great, what were their purpose?

FlyXwire01 Apr 2019 5:30 p.m. PST

Troop and supply transport, and the later models with reinforced hulls could even carry a Tiger I!

They were shallow draft, and so could operate in shallow waters, and approach up to shores to disembark their stores and troops (or evacuate them). They were originally ordered for development due to the lack of a suitable coastal transport/landing craft for the aborted Seelowe invasion of Great Britain.

They can serve very well in our coastal naval games as boats for our transport convoys, and ones that plied the coastal waterways in close-support of land operations (from Norway and the Baltic, all the way through to the Med., and into the Black Sea – amazingly versatile, and ubiquitous – also produced as minelayers, mine-sweepers, and gunboat/artillery support versions too).

Great website (in German but browser translatable) -

I like 'em!

Looking forward to your Artilleriefährprähme.

Nice link too.

Max Schnell02 Apr 2019 8:33 a.m. PST

Very nicely done! I have the Italians so I'm going to waiting for the German ones to come out.

Joe Legan02 Apr 2019 10:00 a.m. PST

I hate you. Those look fantastic. I was lazy and just painted and flag my Italians to look like germans.
Great job!

FlyXwire02 Apr 2019 4:36 p.m. PST

:)))

Well, it would be nice if Warlord would give us a release list! As I was buying these Italian F-Lighters, here comes out their German AFP model (same resin hull as the Italian gunboat model, but w/German armament & assuming it has a specific [German] data card).

We know (or expect) from pictures in the rule book, and from their own representatives that they have other boats in the pipeline too, like the Siebel Ferries, but when?

Biggest hole in the German forces I can see right now though, would be a Raumboot model IMO.

I wonder what you guys want to see them release next?

Wackmole902 Apr 2019 8:14 p.m. PST

Hi

FlyXwire I saw all three ships classes at Adepticon, So releases should be soon.

D A THB02 Apr 2019 9:24 p.m. PST

Thanks for the description of the boats purpose. (I was a little late getting back to check)

FlyXwire03 Apr 2019 5:46 a.m. PST

WM9 – that's excellent news – thanks for informing us!

DA, that's aok! :)

FlyXwire03 Apr 2019 7:21 a.m. PST

Well, maybe the R-Boot release is coming soon, as just today there's a new Warlord article spotlighting them -

There's loads of new stuff coming through for the game!

We show them off on our weekly email newsletter in the main but here's a taster (in addition to making the full range of resin vessels available to traders rather than purely via our website) :

April
R-23 R-boat
Fairmile D MTB 624

May
Siebel Ferries
Fairmile D MGB 660
Soviet Bronekater with Katyusha

June
IJN 101-class landing ship
British Landing Craft Gun (Large) Mk III

Keep a weather eye on the horizon for reinforcements…

Cheers,

Paul

No problemo – always happy to help.

It would be lots of fun to hear what you think we should be thinking about making for the existing fleets.

Most likely it's already in the pipeline but that shouldn't stop the wishlist being compiled – we are wargamers after all!

Cheers,

Well, I see you have MTB Pens by Sarissa, which I've been eyeing up, and thinking how I could use in-game, but along this terrain-line of thinking, would be a "harbor feature" to place the Warlord lighthouse models onto, with mole/pier/breakwater "arms" that we could set alongside and outward from an edge of our game boards.

Just an example from Vieste, Italy (and the lighthouse there which looks very much like the Warlord Med. model) -

Of course, we could model this type of terrain ourselves, and I was planning on doing this for a con presentation coming up, but I bet Warlord (or a supporting affiliate) could market a feature like this. It could be a useful scenario sally point, scenario objective point/target, and basic eye-candy feature too, that could be used along with the lighthouses Warlord already offers.

Just some resin mole arms (or MDF if doable with appropriate relief/texturing), and a more substantial platform area on one side for setting a lighthouse onto (or even a third – interior portion piece for swapping on and off a few theater-specific buildings onto). Nothing too big, but scaled to accommodate at least some of the larger (transport, corvette-size) models. Having the mole arms as separate pieces would allow for enlarging the harboring area to fit in extra ship/dock/pen models and features as needed.

Joe Legan04 Apr 2019 7:29 a.m. PST

Mole would be nice but what I didn't see on your list that I need are:
Fairmile Bs
Japanese DD

Fairmile B were ubiquitous early war and you cant have pt boats in the slot without a Japanese destroyer. Thanks

How about a British Motor Launch and a Harbour Defence Motor Launch? Both seem to have been used for all sorts of missions in The Med.

Max Schnell06 Apr 2019 6:24 p.m. PST

Thanks, Paul for the update.

FlyXwire29 Apr 2019 6:45 a.m. PST

Hey, I see Debris Of War now has a 1/300th scale Harbour Set w/mole arms available -

Tony, w/Debris says he's coming out with a lighthouse and German coastal defense pieces soon too!

Those models look superb FlyXire

FlyXwire06 May 2019 5:51 a.m. PST

Thanks Mysteron!

I am very very impressed with Miscellaneous Miniatures . I ordered transfers for my S Boats and RN MTBs from Kevin in the USA on 31st May Friday and I have them in my hand today in the UK 04th June 2019.I think I only paid $2.50 USD for postage and packing which is cheap these days

I am stunned as most of my UK domestic orders take longer than that !

Superb service and thanks again FlyXwire for the recommendation .

FlyXwire04 Jun 2019 11:38 a.m. PST

Most excellent Mysteron!

Hey, this might interest you, but at a con this past weekend I got a sneak peek at the beta rules for Black Sails – (don't hate me, but can't say much more of course). ;)

mysteron Supporting Member of TMP05 Jun 2019 1:09 a.m. PST

Did the rules look Okay?

I also think you mean Black Seas . Black Sails is the pirate series drama . I always get mixed up with the 2 as well and I don't think we will be the last :)

FlyXwire05 Jun 2019 5:21 a.m. PST

Oh yeah, Black Seas. :)

I think they'll be fun (and was told they're basis was inspired by Cruel Seas, and then backwards engineered to the Age Of Sail).

Instead of using Warlord's BA-inspired random dice pull activation, ships progress with regards to their attitude to the wind.

mysteron Supporting Member of TMP06 Jun 2019 5:55 a.m. PST

Thanks for the update. I think attitude to the wind is mentioned in the video demo which makes sense really as the Bolt Action dice activation system would be difficult to employ realistically in this instance.
