WIP New releases for the not too distant future from Gringos40 in 28mm

Bashkirs /Kalmyks from the Ural Steppes. Ged tells me these were exotic Cossacks, superb horsemen, wonderfully dressed in rabbit fur and multi coloured cotton and an abundance of composite bows pistols and lances…main weapon of choice the bow, best known for fighting in 1812/13. Seems there were two regts (5 Sotnia each) of Bashkirs, significantly expanded in 1812

Marbot was famously wounded by a four foot Bashkir arrow in his leg after saying to a fellow officer that they manoeuvred like a flock of sheep. At the battle of Leipzig in 1813. Karma indeed.

Great looking figure – will there be several poses, like your recent Spahis? And would they be useable as Tatars in Chinese service during the Opium Wars?

Basha
there will be a selection of basic troop types to start with
and yes they would do for the first Opium wars!

looking to release in about six weeks

Very tempting, if only for the novelty.

That is the trick. Identify the novelty.

Anyone can do the totally obvious, a Garde Grenadier a Cheval or Dragon de la Emperatrice in full dress, parade rig in 28mm (except no-one has yet of course).

Funny how the most iconic units of this era have never yet been created, to a decent standard. Not in 28mm. 15/18mm take your pick. I do not include Hobbits from Front Rank or minifigs from Foundry pre Perry stuff
