Since this seems to be the time to ask these questions… Am going to be in Normandy in July, and would like to know what the consensus is on the Juno Beach Centre as I've heard mixed reviews. |

Visited last Saturday, as it the start point of our Canadian DDay +2 then and now battlefield tour. It is very different to the other DDay museums, it is a very calm museum, with description of Canadian life across society and the wars impact, a overview of Canadian involvement, the role of the Navy, airforce and army throughout the war. It is not strictly a DDay focused museum, like the American museums, although it does have uniforms and items from the landings and the inland operations. Outside is a memorial with the names of the fallen, bunkers and various pieces of allied equipment in very good order. If you have Canadian relatives involved in the landing or resting in France it is the first port of call. A solid 5 Cheers Matt |

I visited Juno Beach in the spring of 2017. My personal favorite of the beaches and I enjoyed being along the coast where I recognized the area from old photos. |

Outstanding, lots of powerful stories in there. The beaches and bunkers are interesting to walk along. The memorials at various beachsites are pretty powerful, esp the Queens Own Rifles memorial. Interesting story near the way out about a DD Sherman that was sunk on Jube 6th and eventually recovered. The recovery and restoration project had a key contributor, a Can Sherbrook Fusilier Tank commander veteran from June 6th. The grave site at Bent Sur Mer is a must, very powerful experience. |

The museum itself is very much a Canadian thing, and as an Australian (with an English D-Day veteran father), it was not of enormous interest for me. But the guided tour of the associated bunkers is an absolute must. Cheers, JohnG |

Just to get this back on topic, the question is about the museum itself, not the surrounding area. |

That was where a young Canadian Artillery officer named James Doohan was WIA. |
