New 1/72nd German Steyr Heavy Car at PSC!

1/72nd German Steyr Heavy Car is ready!!
We thought it best to wait for confirmation that the tool is running smoothly this time :-) It is and the first batch is on its way from the factory!
This fantastic kit gives options to build early or late variants, canvas top up or down, open windows and crew figures.

I am a kubelwagon man so what would these be for please? I would like to get some but want to see what they are used for first. Thanks – Wikipedia didn't particularly enlighten me – found stuff re a turreted armoured car, but not this one.

Just about anything you can think of, troop transport, command/communications/radio, Military police local supply etc. All arms all fronts as I remember.

towing AT/flak guns as well from pictures on the internet.
Thanks for the sprue shots!

Ah ha – searching "Steyr 1500a" got me better results than "Steyr heavy car".

Turns out I already have a couple towing 37mm A/T guns, so that's a result.

Thanks guys.

Leon – do you make a crew/passengers for these?

TunnelRat26 Mar 2019 9:42 a.m. PST

Marc at work – Leon doesn't YET but we may be able to persuade him. Hint, hint Leon!!!!

TunnelRat27 Mar 2019 1:24 a.m. PST

Mind you – AB do a number of sets that would be suitable in their German / Support section so Leon may well feel this would not be financially viable.

and a radio fit is planned.

You do indeed Shaun, Ive got some of those populating some Opel Blitz's. :)Looking forward to the M8's.
I was looking at the radio fit version as well, I did the Verlinden one a good while back, pig of a job to build the Tamiya version but it deos look terrific when done. The only problem with the Verlinden one is the radio fit is more than likely inncorrect. Which of course is something yours truly only finds out after gods know how many hours build time lol
I might do something for them if I can cross subsidise from something more profitable and come up with something different/better than whats out there but at the moment working on other stuff and some Napoleonics/ACW.

I have been advised by E mail that there is a design problem with the 20mm version which will delay it up to about 3 weeks.

Leon – do you make a crew/passengers for these?

The PSC sprue seems to show about six driver/passenger figures.

Just finished putting together one of the PSC Steyrs, I was asked to check one of the early runs and help out sorting the problem of the fit. Its just a matter of a locating cut out being too narrow to allow a lug to fit properly. Happens sometimes when they scale from 15mm to 20mm and the CAD designer just not paying proper attention, now very slapped I understand!
As some of you know adjusting an injection moulding tool is a bit of a pain and so takes time.
Very much a lash up witrh some of the Adler US Para jeep view in for scale.

Anyone know what's happening with this? These guys are really bad at keeping people up to date when there's an issue.

LeonAdler Sponsoring Member of TMP24 Jul 2019 9:42 a.m. PST

As I understand it's going to need a complete new tooling and the tool room has been occupied with Tiger and Carrier moulding. I'm going over there tomorrow to pick up some bits and bobs so will mention it.

Thanks – it's just they gave a date when it would be ready and that passed several weeks ago with no further update despite them saying they were going to provide one!

Well I know its annoying when all you want is an answer even if its not one you like at the time lol
I know from running my outfit that dates given at the time in best of faith tend to get buried in other stuff. As I remember Will saying there was a gap in the tool rooms work timetable so other stuff got shunted up to fill the gap. The Steyr needs re working of CAD files and that means a lot of fiddling and is a bit time consuming, a re working takes longer than something thats already done and ready to go out of the box. And of course they have two hugely important board Games shows coming up………..
So I'm told lol
All this injection stuff too complicated for an old hot metal caster like me. :)
