Old… but still interesting…

"Back in October, I asked a military expert if a combined Rest-of-the-World army could conquer the United States of America. It was a question that sprung from nothing other than curiosity but a lot of patriotic Yanks seemed to assume that I was genuinely putting in calls to top international generals to "see if this thing is doable". I was met with a flood of abuse, most of it outlining the physical punishment I could expect to receive if I ever set foot in Podunk, Idaho or Halliburton, Texas. My favourite was a Twitter account called ButthurtBrit, which was set up just to abuse me. Their best tweet was:…."

The author of the articles apparently has nothing better to do than post things that will predictably yield harsh replies. That he professes surprise, and uses such as grist to insult those who replied, shows an immense amount of tone deafness and hubris.
History has been filled with enough wars to discuss.
We need not sow discord by inventing ones that have not
occurred.

I didn't look at the article. Seems like BS … Regardless, is the "Military Expert" ever ID'd ?

Will be putting on a naval pre dreadnought game at Adepticon with the battle of Hawaii – Russians vs Americans. It involved a failed revolt in 1893 followed by a Russian treaty in 1906. It followed a logical progression of a what-if.

It is one of the things that should be done by all military organizations of every country to think of the unthinkable. In this way a nation will not have to remember Pearl Harbor or 911 after the fact.

I know/believe that e.g. the USA has OPLANs for various "contingencies" … i.e. invading/defending from Canada, Mexico, etc.

Probably somewhere their are classified OPLANs for Alien Landings/Invasion, etc., too … Yes to think the unthinkable …
