Yeah, well, if one goes to one's local Indian grocery store to buy toasted cumin seeds solely for a more authentic chumetl, that pretty much says "petal head". |

"No wonder the factions are always fighting. They can't even agree with what makes up chumetl :" I've made it 3 times; the last time I got "creative" with the spicing, and it turned out tasting like Buttermilk Ranch dressing. Not a good result. Going back to Indian salt lassi recipes, it calls for toasted cumin seeds (ground) and black salt. I would be tempted to add a dash of garam masala and a tinge of hing (asafoetida), but that might freak out the tastebuds of those uninitiated to South Asian food. |
