IM looking at a crazy project of using very large scale planes on stands for dog fighting on the hall floor. As the expense and effort will be horrendous i would like to find some good WW1 aerial rules that will comfortably work with only one plane per player. Any recommendations? FM |

Frankly, I consider ANY rules that encourage the player to run more than one plane logically absurd. Fun, but still absurd. I would consider Blue Max. Do your flight stands have adjustable height? |

link Canvas Eagles / Blue Max Played with 15-20 players a game. Everyone gets a reference sheet with valid moves. Everyone chooses/plots the next turn's move. Everyone moves their plane. If anyone has a shot, they are resolved (damage chits are pulled from the "bucket o' death"). Speed and altitude changes which maneuvers may be chosen. If the stands are not adjustable, a dial/marker can be added to the base to note altitude. Have seen pics of a game that someone did outside with 3ft long wire stands. |

I agree with Stryderg Canvas Eagles is an excellent one player-one plane game. We've just finished our fourth campaign with a spectacular game. I would recommend this game. We use 1/72 models. Terry |

All the links on the CE/blue max pages appear to be broken – none of the PDFs will load. |

I played Aerodrome, and found it a lot of fun and fairly easy to do. My go to is still Wings of War/Glory, but that won't work for your project without making some large, properly scaled maneuver templates to substitute for the card movement (though that would be awesome ). I also prefer 1player-1plane, but there are times when I've done WoW/G with more than that (which is invariably confusing). |

I was able to download from the CE website with my laptop and phone. Jim |

Wings of War with scaled up move template (cards) would work and I've some 1/72 planes mounted on ball joints atop telescopic aerials to do this but have lost access to the space to play so it's very much a dormant project. Lots of unmade kits in the loft… Alternatively you could modify the MiG Alley rules that appeared in issue 54 of Wargames Illustrated. I adapted them to WW2 (USAAF 8th Air Force vs Luftwaffe) with 1:350 models and it gives a good game. |

Odd, the pdf's under the link I posted do seem to don't work. The ones under wrgmr1's post do work. |

One of you are linking to maxeagles.com and the other to eaglesmax.com. The maxeagles site works. |

I will put in a vote for the "Mustangs and Messerschmitts" system. ("Triplane" is the WW1 version) Both are available at the Wargame Vault. link |
