Russian soldiers and ballerinas pose for 'surreal' Women's Day shoot "Armed troops and graceful ballerinas in white tutus posed together in a ‘creative' attempt by a military recruitment center to mark Russia's beloved holiday – Women's Day. The jaw-dropping juxtaposition split the internet…."

It would be a much better picture if the soldiers were on point and the ballerinas were holding the weapons. |

Disappointed to see the soldiers in the pics were men. DOM dances (jazz now, but ballet in the past) and is a counter drone electrical engineer. The two life contexts shown are not only not incompatible for women, they are not incompatible for a woman. Non convoluted grammar, however, is incompatible with me. It would be a much better picture if the soldiers were on point and the ballerinas were holding the weapons. If they were all women, yes. DOM does assert that you really can't do en pointe in combat boots, so you would have to figure out something else similar. |

Maybe they are trying to convince soldiers to take ballet classes to improve their balance and flexibility. I've heard that some pro athletes do that (male American football types). |

I've heard that some pro athletes do that (male American football types). SWMBO taught ballroom dance to football players in uni. The best thing about dance is the variety of different actions you can take within a specific dance context. I have problems with my leg, but if you think through it (well … SWMBO thinks through it) and plan, I can do some ballroom dances. It's a good workout if you do it right. Upper body posture and focus on core plus all that moving around. |

I've heard that some pro athletes do that (male American football types). It may not be pitched to them as 'ballet', though. One of my martial arts instructors was giving judo-type instruction to several pro teams in California. |

@Lost Wolf: watch Full Metal Jacket again. |

Naw, it wasn't that one, I read that line inna book, Y'know those things made of paper with words in them? None of these Kindles and electronic gadgets. The book was about a group of young men who became Marines and went to the Pacific in WW II. Similar to Full Metal Jacket, two wars and one generation removed, and without R. Lee Ermey, God Rest His Soul. |

One of those ballerinas has a rather grim look on her face. |

Aww, she's just pissed cuz they didn't give her a gun. BTW, anyone notice that there are 6 ballerinas in the first photo but only 4 in the second? Kinda makes ya wonder doesn't it? |
