I've seen the display of this flag, the eagle, and Ewart's bloodstained saber at Edinburgh Castle. There is no cravat there. Are we sure French standards had cravats for the 100 Days?

Good point!.

Even that… it's a nice vignette….

Called in to Edinburgh castle on Saturday. Paid my respects to the regt museum. There is certainly a very, very, faded cravat top left of the display of the eagle and flag. Looks like it might have had some gold fringing at the most, but not a trace of colour in it.

Many an officer's sword and one trooper's, the classic straight one without the ground down spear point. I very much doubt any trace of Ewart's own sword remains though; that would be something to find!

Just realised …the model above is exactly 100% what I saw incredibly faded. A fringed edge….but just above that something embroidered rather than painted. Bees or Eagles, could not tell….and I looked and looked. Some definite splodges…

I did feel that way I must admit. I was absolutely soaked and freezing. Not Fade away is right…….

No idea why the repetition, for which apologies

Not merely repetition but diminishing repetition (hence the fading concern) which I thought was intentional given the quality of his postings!
