Interesting uniform choice – perhaps plausible very early in the conflict?

Nicely painted, but the uniform choice of brown coats with red facings would not have appeared among Loyalists. IF a loyalist militia unit was uniformed, you would see either red or green coats. Brown would have gotten them shot by their own side.
If they were not uniformed, they would have worn a field sign.

I quite agree about the coat colors for the command. I hesitate to use the term "uniform" with militia. grin
Brown coats with red facings is definitely NOT what a Loyalist would wear.

Yep, white handkerchief around the arm was one of the more prevalent ones.
