I've given in to the inevitable. @TMP_Editor

(I've actually had the account for several years, but never used it. And it seems they had some data corruption on Twitter, because my email address was right but Twitter thought my name was Editor Russ! grin)

umm, congrats, I guess.

Thank You Sir.

Pray tell, what is this Twitter item?

Will it roll sixes better or paint eyes on my figures?

Having trouble thinking of what use Twitter would be in my gaming life. I need another coffee…

Twitter is extremely useful for basic announcing of changes and new items. In this vein, it is best if the Tweet contains a link to better information.

The name derives from the sound a small-brained animal makes to say, "Hey! Over here! Look at me! Look at me! Over here!" Again, this is useful for grabbing attention, just like a bird tweet.

If you already have a better (curated) mechanism for gaining awareness of new activity within a subject area (used very loosely, as Twitter does not establish a taxonomy – "Stuff I personally like" is a subject area in this usage), it may not have high value for you.

When you settle in to a few, well-matched sources for your information, you risk missing innovation that doesn't (yet) align to those subject areas. When you take in everything in an unmoderated arena, you risk wasting time on things of little value to you.

It's not an either or. It's a balancing act.
