I spend a couple hours with a good friend at the local coffee shop in the weekend, and last week he marveled at the Story of GI Joe, WWII, in particular the use of a 57mm Anti-Tank gun. I hope this segment shows at I copy this link. That is a marvelous crew, firing at 4 seconds a round, or 15 rounds a minute. YouTube link GdeP |

If you go to the 29 minute mark you'll get right to the firing. They are firing fast but its at a large building maybe 70-80 yards away. I don't think that ROF could be achieved at a stationary vehicle until they had it zeroed in. The part that I found amazing was that in <15 seconds the entire crew dismounted the truck, moved the gun into position, and got the first round out. Thanks for posting that. |

You're right about a smaller target, or more especially at a moving enemy tank. I think they were firing at a round-topped or -domed bunker. The army's rate of fire was 15 rounds per minute, so this was probably a real Army gun crew used for the movie. I believe this is from 1946. GdeP |

Yes, I always loved that scene, and the sort of 'bucket brigade' way they crew sent the rounds to the gun. You can't really see it too well in the clip. I think the image has been cropped. |
