I'm working on a quick fun project of Germans vs Japanese in China in 1914. As you can guess no one makes figures for this. For the Japanese the infantry I selected the North Star Chinese War Lord range. I then looked around for command figures that would work with them. I couldn't find anything that either fit size wise or I could get my hands on in the US. SO I used the NorthStar Chinese officers. This required a little reworking and the adding of swords. Swords are 3D printed for Fantasy / Sc-Fi gaming and were little over size, requiring trimming. Hey the they may not be historically accurate, but were a lot of fun to do and it's a game. Hope you like the figures.

Would Boxer Rebellion Japanese work?

The Japanese changed their uniforms in 1911. At this scale (28mm) the most notable difference would be in the hat and color of the uniform. From what I can determine the uniform on these figures is pretty close. One of the biggest questions I had was; did the actually carry the Katana type swords? There is a regulation Japanese officer's sword for this period (looks close to the US 1850 foot officer's sword). I know that they did carry swords into combat, as there is a report of a German officer fencing with a Japanese officer during the campaign.

Great job. Your Japanese figures can also be used for battles with the Bolsheviks in Siberia during the intervention period.

Yes I saw that, infant the only period color prints I could on the Japanese came from that action.
The figures themselves can be painted as a couple of different nations from that period. The officer with his hands behind his back, with a little work would make a great per WW2 USMC officer.
