I have uploaded some photos of the plastic Victrix African war elephant in 28mm using LBMS transfers.
Some more to come.

Thanks Grunt1861. Allen is missed.
I was lucky to inherit a whole box full of unpainted Carthaginian models from him. Some of which I have recently started to paint.

Excellent Jeff. Good to see you're still at it, just getting back into the painting thing myself after a long hiatus.

Fantastic work, the elephant skin is outstanding! There is always plenty of painting inspiration on your site.

Here is another version of the same model:

This first version was black primed then white dry brushed- it created a different finish. For the Carthaginian I went a more traditional white prime and layered with washes and less extreme brush strokes. Different strokes – as they say!

JJartist--I don't mean to be insensitive here but I'm a little out of the loop.Allen is just gone from this site right? (not passed away I hope).

DalyDR04 Mar 2019 12:24 p.m. PST

brave face,

Allen passed away in 2014.

Fantastic work on the elephant. Love the skin colouring and the eyes. Transfers raise the level. Could never paint detail like that.

Thank-you DalyDR, that is too bad. I am not around as much as I used to be and the last I heard of him he had quit this site (sadly).

colin knight – usually I tend to shy away from using the transfers- but in this case it was asked for. The LBMS designs are very well done for this model. The main issue was which design to choose.I felt the red design was more impressive for a show piece model.
