Over the decades, hobby companies come and go. Which now-defunct company do you miss the most?

They are probably best known for their stuff related to Groo and other comics, but they also made European medieval figures with excellent detail and expressive faces. I wish that I had bought a few more back in the 1980s!

Heritage or whoever made Napoleonettes – true 15mm Nappies.

Gallia used to make some nice pieces too.

There was a company in Ireland in the 80s that did Anerican Revolution in 15mm among other things. They were panned early on for having very stiff and brittle miniatures but that was later corrected.

Flashman, are you thinking of Freikorps? They're still available from QRF Miniatures.

Gallia, or at least some of it, is available from Warrior Miniatures.

Second the nominations of Polly S Paints, Heritage, Frontier and Mike's Models.

SpuriousMilius01 Mar 2019 2:55 p.m. PST

Twenty First Century Games, an Italian company that made excellent 25mm card terrain kits.

For those of you who miss the excellent LOTR range by Heritage, they might still be available. Contact Michael Thomas at Classic Miniatures classicminiatures.net and see what he can do. About 5+ years ago I bought bucket loads of those minis from him. He's a very nice guy. Hope this helps.

I'll join those who miss the Polly S line of paints. They were wonderful.

Sounds like that was FreiKorps 15, based in Bangor, Co. Down (my first metals in the late 90s were some of their SYW range). I believe all their stuff is still available through QRF.

I think the brittleness issue (which I certainly observed with those first figures) has been remedied long since.

Tactical Conflict Systems – Made some great pre-painted terrain

JR Miniatures – Really nice buildings and other terrain bits.

Redoubt Miniatures USA – When they had some very nice 28mm+ colonial figures.

Heritage and whatever they morphed into.

Scenic Effects – Great buildings. I have their 15mm Plancenoit and Hugomont sets. I also have their 15mm Great Redoubt. I know someone else carried them for a while but I haven't seen anything new lately. Please come back!

Board Games:

Avalon Hill
Victory Games
GDW

Not as concern about this. There are some great manufactures making some great games today. They are calling it the 2nd golden age of military history board gaming. There are just about as many board games available as there were back in the 70s. Its pretty amazing. Never thought it would happen again.
