PSC 1/72 infantry. Are they multi piece troops…assembly required? Bang for your buck, you can't go wrong with the amount in a box. Thanks, Doug |

Some of the figures are a single casting but others are multi-piece. Some assembly is required but not too much. |

Bang for your buck, you can't go wrong with the amount in a box. True enough with respect to quantity… But if you object to US troops in German webbing then you can go very wrong… :o) |

I have found that the webbing can be sliced off pretty easily with an exacto blade, especially on the backs which are most visible |

I always found Valiant Miniatures to be the best. |

Plastic Soldier Review actually wasn't as harsh as TMPers on the incorrect Y-strap on PSC's 1/72 US infantry, giving it a "pretty good" score of 8 in the Historical Accuracy category while acknowledging that error: link It was much harder on the "US Infantry with Heavy Weapons" set with a 5 in that category, mainly because the chemical mortar and M2 Browning GPMG are oversized: link It also gave PSC's British infantry a lower grade in Historical Accuracy than the Americans due to their kit being wrong: link So the Y-strap transgression depends on whether you can live with it given PSC's cheaper cost compared to other manufacturers like Valiant and AB. |

seriously, cut em off its really easy to do. They are really well proportioned and compare well to AB and others. I also like the Valiant US set, which are giant and must stand alone, but hope they scale them down like they did with their Germans |

DougEagle if you click at the bottom of the pictures in PSR reviews you can see the sprue itself and get a clue about the amount of assembly required |

Regarding the PSC US infantry, there are other problems with the equipment apart from the glaring error with the Y-straps. Also (stretching my memory a bit here without checking) I think the PSC Commonwealth halftrack crew figures have those German style Y-straps too. As there are some figures in the PSC US infantry set that I quite like, my own solution was to get some of the old Esci hard plastic US marines (#8016, long out of production and not easy to find but usually cheap as they are pretty awful figures). These come with a plentiful supply of separate backpacks which being hard plastic are easily affixed to the PSC chaps with a blob of solvent, effectively hiding away the straps at the back. (You can see the Esci set #8016 on PSR but it's down atm so I don't have the link…) |

Thanks for the info gang…appreciate it. Regarding Valiant Miniatures British infantry set. Does it come with the Vickers MMG? Doug |
Hornswoggler | 04 Mar 2019 3:52 a.m. PST |
Does it come with the Vickers MMG? Yes: link Also be aware that Valiant have recently issued re-sized German figures which are not as gigantic as their original line, see here under FT Series: link One would assume that the British and Americans might get the same treatment but I've heard nothing firm. |
