After a lot o work I have finally completed e my 2.5D transportable forest and trees project. link Since all my wargaming is on the go and I like to play on nice table then all of my terrain has to be easily transported and durable. Which meant up until now forests and trees were not on that list. After one too many games played on a blasted hellscape or urban jungle I couldn't take it anymore and longed for the greens of the countryside lol. Never again will my games be bereft of trees unless I wish it so lol |

So these are just tiles painted with pictures of trees? |

Nope the trees are raised portions of the of the tiles. They are designed to be easy to stand miniatures on, while also being clearly rrpresentative of trees. |

Clever idea for transport able terrain. I play a lot using hex based movement, what I've made are hexes that are tin and contain a top view of the terrain they represent. If I need to transport I just take these hexes. If I'm having the game at my location I then place a terrain piece over the 2D hex. This permits the player to remove the terrain model but still marks the location. The 2D hexes are simple to make, I find an image on line (usually Google maps) print it out, glue it to a matting board hex, and laminate it. They hold up well, last a lost time, and it damaged easy to replace (oh yea, cheap too). |
