Superman could have won WW2 years early. Why didn't he?

Patrick R23 Feb 2019 3:24 a.m. PST

Damian Wayne for being an insufferable hyper-competent arrogant brat.

Jean "Phoenix" Grey for being the worst offender of "death being a revolving door" principle in comics.

Goku, who makes every other overpowered, outlasting your welcome bad character look like a rank amateur.

Superman could have won WW2 years early. Why didn't he?

Well he wasn't in the military.

Most annyoing Superhero?
Most of them, they are insanly ineffective.
Batman has battled the joker for dacades.
Had the joker faced the Punisher, there would be No joker after 20 minutes.

JimDuncanUK23 Feb 2019 4:13 a.m. PST

Just about all of them.

And the winner is …

Captain Planet

In a superhero RPG, I did play the PUNisher, a superhero whose ability was to avoid damage while telling really bad situational jokes. The longer he was within earshot of any (including friendly) characters doing that, the greater the annoyance and thus the greater the penalties taken by those characters. I got a bonus for role playing if I could tell a pun or joke related to the scene that made a player groan or wince.

Basically, his power was being really, really annoying. Some said that didn't count as role play for me.

The Wonder Twins – if they count as Supers that is.

There should be a special mention for comic book fans that mistake them for serious literature too.

"Superman could have won WW2 years early. Why didn't he?"

Hitler had the Spear of Destiny and used it to keep the American supers out of Axis-controlled and contested territory.

Hey, at least DC eventually bothered to come up with a justification.

Winston, I've been told there was a WWII comic in which he flunks the eye exam--so eager he uses his X-Ray vision and reads a newspaper in the next room. But I've always loved the piece--I think it was in Stars and Stripes--which explains that as soon as the Personnel people discover Clark Kent is a reporter they assign him as a clerk and won't listen to any of his whining about winning the war single-handed. After 14 years in the Army, I'd believe that one.

Dynaman878924 Feb 2019 10:32 a.m. PST

> Hitler had the Spear of Destiny and used it to keep the American supers out of Axis-controlled and contested territory.

He could have used his Laser beam vision from Allied territory. And if that still doesn't work he could throw stuff at least.

Superman was busy taking down the KKK,
I think it might be time to picks up where he left off in the 40s.

Winston Smith24 Feb 2019 5:14 p.m. PST

I did mention Superman in a slightly different context.
Let me be very clear.
I place in nomination Superman, aka Clark Kent, ne Kal-El for most annoying Superhero.
Thank you.

Is it too early to vote on the upcoming Captain Marvel?

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP25 Feb 2019 12:14 p.m. PST

Awwwwww, dude! I believe the upcoming CM movie is going to be the Kree-Skrull war and lead to the second Infinity War (possibly by tying to AntMan and the Wasp). It's going to be great … as long as the first 90 minutes aren't origin story. Pilot. Cosmic accident. Cosmic powers. We get it. Nothing to see here, move along.

von Schwartz25 Feb 2019 5:59 p.m. PST

I don't remember his name but he went around exclaining "SHAZAM" really really annoying.

Tommy2026 Feb 2019 7:03 a.m. PST

You're thinking of Gomer Pyle…

I mean, The Tick.

No … maybe I mean them both!

(I actually like Patrick Warburton as an actor, but he does a very good job at playing people who are supposed to get under your skin.)

Spiderman, Flash and Deadpool. They are always whining about something.

Its Scrappy-Doo, but you're right. He was so annoying; they made him the villain of the second Scooby-Doo-movie.

Spiderman is not a whiner. He is one of the most stoic characters around, even while being a sarcastic cracker of wise.

Spiderman failed to graduate high school. He ditched too many PE classes fighting crime. A guy who can bench press a bus didn't graduate HS due to insufficient PE. (BTW, nobody knows Clark Kent is Superman because of super hypnosis (no, really). How could a bunch of HS kids not notice that all the sudden dweeb boy is ripped?) Did he whine> Complain? Ask for a do-over? No … he went to summer school and forfeited his college scholarship and internship, trying to scrape through community college on a freelancer photojournalist paycheck.

Not a whiner.
