Ged asked me to post news of two new figures. Flamethrower operators from either side of the wire. We all remember Robert de Niro using one of course, but I don't like the idea of Nathaniel Victor with one also. Claymore definitely needed there

Often wondered how they were not outlawed after WWI, as with poison gas, expanding bullets, unrestricted submarine warfare (which tells you how much difference it would have made)

Very nice models and paint jobs. I can hear the US Grunt while using his flamethrower saying, "Burn Baby Burn !" evil grin

Many of our instructors and soldiers that fought in Vietnam that I had the honor to serve with. Told us any VC/NVA that were hit by Napalm, flame throwers, etc., were called "Krispy Kritters". The name of a breakfast cereal popular in the US back then.

and these are VC in civvie rig. I think the idea is the assault team that attacked the US emabassy;

picture

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP07 Jul 2020 7:10 a.m. PST

and it was the Embassy of course…..not the emabassy (that is the Irish way of saying it….try it out loud, with a Cork accent)

Plus that was in Saigon and not Hue but;

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP30 Jul 2020 9:52 a.m. PST

We are getting well beyond the title of this thread now maybe. these folk have a more rural look to them, but the famous Catherine Leroy photos did show the bad guys in Hue looking like this rather than the Fall of Saigon uniform of NVA

Yes Standard/Flag Bearers in any war were easy targets. In the ACW during some battles the flag would be carried by a number of soldiers. As many were shot soon after they picked it up !

jammy four Sponsoring Member of TMP01 Aug 2020 4:11 a.m. PST

Legion4 indeed…in the NVA if a standard bearer fell their were designated replacments…not the most aluring task in the world..still.they were given Hero Pens and citations which meant a lot to the NVA .
