This interesting set of rules for Moderns increases movement for "large scale" (20mm, 1/72). Its unclear if one should also increase weapons ranges (the large scale movement is 1.5x the small scale movement).

Can anyone help on this? Do you leave ranges alone, or also multiply by 1.5?

I use 15mm models so this hasn't been an issue with these excellent rules.

The distinction between short and long range appears to be pretty arbitrary and the authors don't provide for tinkering with the ranges that way in larger scales. Most weapons on tanks have no maximum anyway.

I would suggest playing it as written and only increase the short range break if you feel that the balance is altered by changing the movement rates.

Wherabouts in New Jersey are you? I'm over the river in Westchester.

Thanks for the advice. I live in Essex county. I game with a group of guys out of Maplewood Hobby in Maplewood. Good group. Mostly transplants from NYC. A number of them helped develop Arty Conliff's games.
We game regularly on Thursday evenings. About 7PM.

How long have you been playing SabreSquadron? Do you use the full rules, or just the on line beginner's set?

And, of course, how do you like it compared to other sets?

Title got bugged, I guess we're talking about Sabre Squadron?

22ndFoot22 Feb 2019 3:27 p.m. PST

I've had the full version of Sabre Squadron since at least February 2016, but I haven't played them as often as I'd like as I am glacially slow at getting my forces together. The games I have played have gone very well and given what seems like a sensible result. On top of which the other books are great resources.

I also plan to try the IABSM amendment in the recent TooFatLardies annual.

One of these days, I'll try to get over to Maplewood.

Lion-
Yep. But the title on the history page is correct. ;-)
