32mm miniatures. Why do companies keep doing this!!

32mm is the new 28mm. Just like how 25mm scale-creeped to 28mm. Maybe it's time to update my TMP handle.

Well, six days of funding out of 24 are done, and pledges have fallen off quite sharply beyond the initial (expected) bunch.

I like zombie games, and this one didn't pull me in. First, I no longer back games that cannot play solo. This game was not designed for solo, but they added a stretch goal for solo. Which means any effort they put into solo design is all nbrand new. Not designed that way from the start. So that has me worried it won't be well designed or balanced.

Second, I prefer games that can be played fully co-op. TONS of games out there where you face off against the other players. This game as a semi-coop style, but with back-stabbing. So … can't check off that box.

Third, for your $90 USD you get 4 playable characters. For a 2-4 player game, that leaves little replay value. And to get 2 more characters you need to fork over $60 USD more. Yes, for that amount you get double the zombies (you already get 60 so doubt these are needed) and a few other nice bits (like another playing board). But not really worth the $60 USD they are asking.

So for me, the components look nice, but the play is missing features, and replay is not there unless you spend $60 USD more.

I'll keep an eye on it, but it will struggle to get funded, and doubt any of the dollar-baseed SGs will get unlocked.

I wish them luck though, because I like zombie games to be successful, even if they don't appeal to me in a big way.

It keeps you from "using what you have' or going to other makers who might be offering what you need but in a smaller size and possibly lower cost. Kind of a built in a hidden "Buy Me Rule".

SW legion did the same. Granted they look great, but was it really necessary to go from 28 to 32mm?
This way it helps to keep gamers from using any of the prepainted SW figures that have been out for yrs now. Think about it.

Funding cancelled.

Passed on it primarily because of publisher's lack of miniatures boardgame experience.

Personally, I have enough dice-resolution games.

As for 32mm, it's been the standard for RPGs and boardgames for quite awhile, now.
