Hey folks!

I hope you all are getting excited for Cold Wars in a few weeks (and that we'll see you there as Little Wars TV is running six games on Saturday!)

We're also really excited about Historicon 2019 this July, though. More so now that we've gotten to visit the site and get a tour from Historicon director Joby Miller!

For a video tour of the Lancaster County Convention Center, and an interview with Joby, check out this link:
Historicon 2019 site preview!

We hope this answers many of your questions and that you're as pumped for the new location as we are now!

Awesome location and thanks for clearing up the many rumors about the site. Kudos to the HMGS Staff for covering the Parking.

Great video and information. Might just entice me to return to Historicon!!! Very nice looking venue and facilities – Historicon needed this.

Lots of good aspects. How many times did the mention the great lighting, but they only showed it in the daytime:( One of my concerns is acoustics. The noise level at other sites has been terrible. How is it here? Have there been other mass activity events, not seminars as they showed the set up for.

It may be as good as they say. I hope it is. But there was a lot of cheerleading. None of the "natural light" reaches any activity except inprocessing, and you know, I've had the sun shine on too many monitors to be impressed by that.

But Bobgnar, unless someone really screwed up on ceiling and wall surfaces, all those high ceilings ought to help out on sound.

The loading and unloading looked better than I expected. Should be OK for flea marketeers in teams. But as a singleton, I don't see any way to pull it off unless I have a room at the facility, and maybe not then. (I unload everything, then drive off looking for a parking space? And remember I have to be back and set up less than an hour after I start.) So the real question is how bad is it going to be running cartloads of stuff from the convention center's guest parking to the flea market, making multiple trips?

But I'll grant it's a personal problem. The place ought to work for games, and probably for dealers and for flea marketeers with partners.

Watched the whole video? HMGS is going to cover the cost of parking for attendees? Well that should be interesting.

I also heard that there should be enough club rooms for every club that wants one. Is this true?

HMGS is going to cover the cost of parking, but is that just diverting our own money towards it. Perhaps they will give a voucher. So the people who drive get the discount. They should just reduce the price for everyone seven dollars per day. People who share rides can divide up the savings. People who stay at the Marriott or who walked Keep the money.

Plenty of staff, volunteers, GMs etc who aren't paying. This makes sure everyone is covered.

I think this is great. A new venue – looks like the best we've had thus far. Parking is covered. This is going to be one Historicon you don't want to miss!!

Kudos to the Board of Directors who are making this all happen!

There will be space for clubs but not necessarily private rooms. There is much less space in the smaller rooms at the LCCC than the Host had so not all clubs will fit in small private rooms. The two large gaming rooms, Commonwealth and Heritage can be airwalled into smaller rooms but to start we'll be leaving the airwalls open. A lot of the clubs have fantastic setups that I'd love for them to show off their stuff with more visibility.

The larger rooms are carpeted with sound dampening built into the rooms so I don't think that will be an issue. If it turns out it is an issue we'll make adjustments at the show. I've already spoken with the the largest groups about this and will be touching base with the other clubs at Cold Wars.

What about a room that can just fit 2 tables? My group and I would like to run 12-15 games over 3 days and leave it set up over multiple days with no worry, but having to break it down every night would put a damper on things.

Ploogak22 Feb 2019 1:43 p.m. PST

As it stands right now two of the smaller rooms will be set up for War College, the rest are set aside for groups that want the smaller more private rooms. I can't guarantee there will be enough for everyone that wants a smaller room because event submission just opened and I'm not sure how many requests we'll get but we do our best to accommodate all requests we get.

TSD101,

Track me down in the HAWKs room at Cold Wars -- I'll be there pretty much all day on Saturday. We can discuss it.

The main gaming hall is on the second floor. I see the escalator and I'm assuming guest elevators, but is there a larger freight elevator for GMs with large table items or multiple loads?

Thanks for posting the video and taking the time to film it. I am looking forward to the new venue and hope the kinks can be worked out, such as parking as many people will have to stay out of town.

I guess many are worried that we will be competing for parking with the workers downtown especially Thursday and Friday. Let's hope there is enough capacity.

No venue is perfect and there will always be compromises.

For me I am all booked and waiting for July to arrive.

An impressive video tour. It looks like Joby and his committee have picked out a good venue.

Will do.

Great job showcasing this venue. Think this could be really great for HMGS and us gamers!

Bet the surrounding area has pubs, restaurants, farmers market……. worthwhile to check out! The gaming facilities look more than adequate, but we'll see.

Mention was made in the video of Central Market in Lancaster (though the picture showed Southern Market, which is not a commercial venue). Central Market is open 6 am – 4 pm Friday and 6 am – 2 pm Saturday. It is not open Wednesday or Thursday or Sunday. Lots of great carry-out food options there, as well as venues all over downtown for carry-out and eat-in.
