If a designer offered his playtest rules for a low price – say, $3 USD – would you be willing to buy them in order to help playtest them?

I think it depends on the set up.

For example, if it was just some basic rules full of holes that need work, no.

However, if it was much further along, but still in need of some polishing, but was otherwise a coherent game, maybe.
