The Germans get some Italian help

Very nice. I see you included crew in your Semevente 47's. Gotta think that it must have been cozy in the fighting compartment of one of those, given that the vehicle had a 3 man crew. Not so bad in Russia – perhaps a tad "odiferous" in North Africa, where shower facilities would have been non-existant.

Great paint jobs ! As far as the Italians on the Russian front, it always surprised be a bit, they never deployed any of their "best" AFV there. No M13/40s ever were deployed.

Not that they were much of a match for T34s, etc. But the other older light AFVs the Italians deployed there were really over matched.

Thanks and yes, the 47/32 did get sent to the Eastern front from what I understand. I have used the Italians M13/40 in an Eastern front scenario ahistorically, but now I can sent the unwashed Semovente. T-34 crews must have loved going up against Italian armor.

It would be more like target practice than a tank on tank engagement … evil grin

True Legion!

If the Italians used them shoot-and-scoot it wouldn't be too bad. The Russians had T-70's too.

But they had a whole lot of T-34s, KV-1s, etc., etc., too … evil grin

Looks really nice, but what is the white stuff and where can I get some?

As far as the Italians on the Russian front, it always surprised be a bit, they never deployed any of their "best" AFV there. No M13/40s ever were deployed.

They never deployed their armored divisions to the Russian Front. So the M13/40s and M14/41s never went.

They did deploy "Fast" Divisions and Cavalry Divisions to the Russian Front. So L3/35s, L6/40s and Semoventi 47s went.

I am not entirely surprised that they didn't deploy their armored divisions. Quite aside from the threat of T-34s and KV-1s (which wargamers appreciate), their logistics were precarious at best. Armored divisions eat log at a prodigious rate, which is not often quite as easily appreciated by wargamers.

What surprises me is that they never deployed any Semoventi 75 batteries. I would think these were small enough units (mostly independent batteries AIUI), that seem to have performed quite well in infantry support roles.

Is that the white puffy stuff? Looks like he uses it to mask areas when painting?

MarkAMorin Supporting Member of TMP26 Jun 2019 4:37 a.m. PST

Yes, that is the white stuff- very useful for mounting stuff for painting
