I would have struggled to do the white ring on the valise/portmanteau….he has managed to do the blue diamonds within the ring!

A very clever touch I never thought of. The rear view just above. I always leave the back of the shabraque, where it is inevitably a solid block onto the horse, black. How much better and 3d it looks painted as the outer surface of the cloth

Gorgeous Rafa!
As Deadhead says painting those white end peices of the valise is a pain.Blue diamonds on the shabraque WOW!

Amazing work – and not colours I would have thought of with Bavarians

Another vote for high marks for that lacing!

Agreed – the blue diamonds are very difficult to do and look great.

The lozenges are great! Bravo!

Ow, did he paint blue lozenges, or white triangles top and bottom to define them? Good work. Slightly too stylised for my tastes but I can respect and admire his craftsmanship.

But Liam, I am not so sure about the underside of the Shabraque. I think the black "shadow" approach still may be better, as it allows a suggestion of the cloth being thin.

Excellent work, I have these on the plan for the year, not looking forward to those lozenges…

Marc's suggestion is genius. Paint the white triangles not the diamond lozenges. "Paint up to the line" is the rule and it does allow some very fine (detailed "fine") work.

Rafa – I salute you. No way could I paint the diamonds, I would have to paint the triangles. First class work.
