"Paris has taken the extraordinary step of recalling its ambassador from Rome in the worst crisis between the two neighbouring countries since the second world war.

France blamed what it called called baseless verbal attacks from Italy's political leaders, which it said were "without precedent since world war two".

Italy's two deputy prime ministers, far-right Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio of the populist, anti-establishment Five Star Movement, have in recent months criticised the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on a host of inflammatory issues, from immigration to the gilets jaunes (yellow vest) anti-government demonstrations…."

Maybe there would be an "Italexit"? Then Italy and Britain can form their own anti-EU arrangement.

Maybe formalise it by us ditching the monorchy, becoming a republic and then joining permenantly with Italy as the new nation of:

Britaly

or

Italtain

parts of the USA would have to rename as Little Britaly…

Billy Joel would be forced to re-record selected tunes:

"I'll meet you any time you want at our Britalyian Restaurant"

Quick, try to name two adjacent countries less able to start an armed conflict with each other… didn't think so. This doesn't belong in "Ultra Modern Warfare" as much as "Ultra Modern Tantrums".

It will be interesting to see at what point and in what manner the EU intervenes.
