"A senior Iranian defense official warned on Tuesday that his country will hit back at Israel if it continues to carry out airstrikes in Syria.

Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran's National Security Council, made the threat as he held talks with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem in Tehran.

"If these actions continue, we will activate some calculated measures as a deterrent and as a firm and appropriate response to teach a lesson to the criminal and lying rulers of Israel," Shamkhani said, according to Reuters, which cited a Fars news agency report…"

Yeah, that's not going to end well. Either Iran has nukes, and uses them on Israel (If they hit Jerusalem, all bets are off as to whether or not the rest of the Middle East will be on their side), which leads to Israel using it's nukes on Iran, or Hezbollah tries some more strikes.

Yea, good idea, taunt the country with numerous "operational" nuclear weapons (200 – 300+, IIRC).

Iran has a few, up to perhaps 10 – 20, since we've been told for decades that "they are just 6 months away from having an operational nuclear weapon".

A lot of what Iran says is for internal consumption. If they try to hit Israel with all their most recently announced ships, aircraft, and missiles everyone involved with be safe as houses.
