Pat Ripley Fezian is after something that has presence, that actually looks like a small stand of tropical bushes, and is cheap, tough and portable.

A 'wargamers' favourite' army of choice for the period, no doubt about it.

Victory goes to the best dressed army. Great looking figures.

100 men of the guard were equipped with Kalthoff flintlock repeating rifles in 1646. They probably weren't still in service (the mechanisms were extremely delicate, and once you've fired off the magazine, then you're really out of the battle), but it's possible that the odd individual weapon was still floating about.

Not sure the Mongol army of 1680-1720 was very highly thought of.

I know it is going way off topic, but I think if you start with the best army thing and Mongols it automatically leads to British. Let me show my working. Mamelukes beat the Mongols, French beat the Mamelukes, and British beat the French. Therefore the British army are the best ;-) .

Back on topic, and that is a fabulous looking army, Barry. I would happily lead my army to defeat if it looked that nice. :-)

I invariably lead my armies to defeat CtG! I am consistent in that respect at least!

Interesting link on the Repeater too, thanks for that. Still in use during the Skane War?…. possibilities for skirmishing style games and this weapon.
