The 40K games at the FLGS have been looking fairly entertaining, so yesterday I went on an archaeological expedition to the basement to unearth and inventory the old Space Hulk collection. 55 Genestealers plus 11 'Nids from Tyranid Attack should provide a solid small army (and 18 Hybrids in reserve for possible Culting with kewl new bikers later). Need to touch up the paint a bit, and detail the bases since we never bothered flocking for Space Hulk, and they'll be good to go out for a bug hunt! Any folks with experience playing with or against Genestealer swarms have thoughts on unit size? [15, 15, 15, 10] or [17, 18, 20] leap to mind. |

My youngest son plays Tyranids so I know more about this subject than I thought I ever would! The current rules have Genestealers in units of 5/10/15/20 if you use Power Levels. If you use points I guess there is more flexibility with numbers. Fewer than 15 models will get blown away before you get close enough to use them. Units of 20 with a Broodlord is the most effective way to run them. If you can keep losses to 50% before close combat they will do some damage. |

30 would certainly install a good bug-fear presence attack. I'm not averse to scrounging up some more bugs. |
