Tony Figlia, family man, wargamer and friend to many, passed away early this morning. Tony was a gentle giant who loved wargaming and military history in all it's facets. He was a good friend and his loss will be felt deeply. But those who knew him are so much the better for having had this man in their life.

Sad news. I had the opportunity to play in several of his Colonial-era 15mm games with his beautifully-painted figure collection. Thank you again, Tony!

You have my condolences as well. They don't call it "suffering a loss" without good reason. Remember the things he did to add to your life and play some games in his honor.

Well said, Wayne. A sad loss to us. But now he's in a better place, and playing games with all those others we have lost.

RIP Philo Swill (Tony's Left For Dead computer game alias)

Who gets his stuff?

The real question is who gets to inventory and help his daughter sell his stuff. And it is a lot of stuff!

Would whoever first finds a death notice please post a link?

Tony was truly good people. My first contact with him was when he was providing instrumental assistance in making Fort Meade available as the venue for the Borodino '92 mega game.

Too soon.

My deepest condolences. I played Napoleonics with Tony when we were both mere youths and enjoyed every chance to catch up when we bumped into each other at HMGS cons. Simply a really nice guy and a pleasure to game with.

Very, very sad news. Tony struggled with diabetes, as I have. We used to compare medical status and wound reports at the HMGS east cons.

A sad day for those who enjoyed his company around the gaming table.

Thanks for the notice Wayne.

Truly sorry for another loss to our community. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I first met Tony at one of the eastern conventions (Cold Wars, Historicon or Fall-In!) in 2003-4. He was working with Rich Hasenauer on the Regimental Fire & Fury play testing of various scenarios and rules. Tony provided many of the miniatures for the ACW games they were using to test the rules and the future scenarios for the future scenario books.
Tony and Rich welcomed me as a newcomer into their "Fire & Fury Club" and made me feel right at home as if I was a long time gaming companion.
I always looked forward to the games they GMed and always had a good time talking trash around the game table with Tony. It seemed like Tony and I knew each other from childhood right from the very beginning. In recent years, Tony has missed many of the conventions I attended and I was always disappointed that he didn't show up. I never got used to him not being there to interact with him and I hoped he would recover enough to start attending the conventions again. Alas, it is not to be. Farewell my good friend, you were already missed before and now you will be forever missed by those who knew you. Your friend, Lowell D.Hamilton

Well said Lowell.

For those who remember Borodino 1992, held at Ft. Meade, I think Tony was instrumental in hosting that fascinating, complex event!
