I saw this movie recently on Turner Classic and had forgotten how good the skirmish in Afghanistan was. It seems to be perfect for a TSATF game so my question is, has anyone ever gamed it? Since we devotees of TSATF love our Colonial movies, it just seems like a perfect scenario. I remember when the film came out in 1972, Dad and George Carr Sr. enthusiastically discussed it, and Dad was in the midst of putting his ideas for TSATF into a "proper rules format". I'm sure it added to his research…… |

Love that movie. Saw it again recently. I haven't gamed the Malakand Field Force skirmish at the beginning of the film but I agree that it would make a good scenario. |

Indeed, there are several good skirmish sequences in that film, including that in which Young Winston goes into the Boer's Bag. Of course, that one requires a train, and most of us don't have one ready to run around the bush-veldt. Actually, the whole movie is something of a gift to Colonial war gamers, and is one of my favorites, too. TVAG |

Lori et all, yes! It would make for a great TSATF game as would other parts of the movie. There was a toy company selling 2 or 3 different sets of trains suitable for 25/28mm troops for $10 USD a set! With some minor conversion on the engine and a paint job it is good to go. There are train rules for TSATF on the yahoo group website to use. Cheers, JB |
