… Corner of the Expanded Universe "The most magical place on Earth's pocket of the galaxy far, far away would really, really like it if you did your reading before you visited. Not satisfied with the kind of absurdity that is Star Wars: The Theme Park: The Comic Book Miniseries, the official Star Wars website has just lifted the lid on tons of new tie-in material designed to expand the storytelling behind Galaxy's Edge, the upcoming Star Wars world set to open at Disney parks in the U.S. this year. We already got to see a bit of this last year, when the second Thrawn book in Disney's sprawling Star Wars canon-refresh, Alliances, took both the titular Chiss and his uneasy ally Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader to the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, which will serve as the environment Galaxy's Edge is set in. But now Lucasfilm is going all-in…and we really, really mean all-in…." link Main page link Amicalement Armand

I think for the entire first year after opening, I'll be at the wine tasting in California Adventure. They're probably already prepping the signs that say, "From thins point the wait is two days." |

Not even if they flew me there, all expenses paid. There are a LOT of fictional places I'd love to visit, but the Star Wars universe isn't even plywood. A decent grade of cardboard, perhaps. (That's corrugated paper to the British among us--not the sturdy sort of card you might use for basing.) Not that there have not been decent stories set in the Star Wars universe, by the way. But making a place real is a different sort of work, and it's nothing Lucasfilm has ever been interested in. |
