The figures are from the Saxon set (the monk being a part of the command) but the sprues are those of the Vikings.

You could use the Saxon figures for the 1st Crusades I would imagine.

Is it just me or are the plastic miniature manufacturers involved in their own version of "Moore's Law" ? Where instead of processor speed, the quality of sculpting and design are increasing exponentially.

These look stunningly good and I look forward to them being front and center on my workbench soon.

So are we saying there aren't actually any new figures here ?
Just repurposed existing stuff ?

Depends on what you mean by new. Both Vikings and Saxons from Victrix are still under work, and will only be released later this year.

Just repurposed existing stuff ?

I would rather assume somebodys misinterpretation of the images.

My understanding is that Victrix is planning on doing also a set of Normans in future, which might be a better fit.

No we are not doing Crusades at present, it is just a misleading title from Tango.

Vikings are at the tooling stage and Saxon sculpts are being finished off. I am sure a few of them could be used for Crusades however.

Steve.

So Steve do you have a date for about the time the Vikings and Saxons will hit the market? I am only asking because my wife deferred a Christmas gift waiting for these to come out. TIG

Dervel Fezian31 Jan 2019 6:29 a.m. PST

The monks and the Normans (even some of those Saxons) are suitable for first crusade.

More so for Hastings. Looking forward to their release.

The Vikings are tooling now so I am really hoping they will be out before Salute. We always get test frames first to check the tool is balanced properly and everything is moulding correctly so this can sometimes cause delays. The Saxons will most likely be early Summer as the Command frame is still being sculpted then it goes tot he layup guys and then to tooling.

Steve.

My understanding is that a wise plastic figure manufacturer these days avoids giving detailed estimates of a release date until the tooling is finalised. There is little to be gained by giving such dates early on, but a lot of damage to be had for reputation if the dates cannot be met.

Steve while I have your attention. I have never bought any Victrix figures before. I have to say those chariots look great and I may have to buy them just to paint and put on a shelf. TIG

Glad you like them my friend!.
