Hi all

I used to build WWII 1/72 kits pretty regularly, but have been unable to for a while. Just getting back into it, and thought I'd share the latest experience with you all:

I personally love this kit, and had great fun building it. I'm just wondering whether, as I did with the Fujimi 1/76 Elefant I built ages ago, to add zimmerit paste detailing or not… I don't want to ruin a lovely kit!

Here's a link to the Fujimi Elefant build, by way of comparison:

Comments and feedback welcomed…

I'd probably stick with the Elefant as is, but that's only a preference of mine. BTW, great job on the Fujimi kit. Getting zimmerit right in any scale is tough, but the small scales are tougher. Very nicely done.

Nicely done and bonus great review of the kits. Excellent for anyone thinking about attempting one. Their 1/100th scale (15mm) kits also suffer from the issue you highlight. Snap together as well but the occasional odd gap. Thanks!

Thanks Marc!

I just spotted that since posting about this Zvezda build my number of followers over at my blog has finally risen from 49, where it had been 'stuck' for what seems like aeons, to the nice round magic 50… woohoo!

In celebration I've posted 50 pics of this magnificent if flawed mammoth, one of which is actually an excellent video by Bovington Tank Museum's curator, David Willey.

… hope y'all enjoy it?

Would be nice if it comes in 1/100 too.

Get to Bovington to see it. Well worth the journey.

@deephorse:

… yes sir, will do! In fact I'm going today.

Had a right old saga with my little MX5. Got it MOT'd and serviced on monday, intending to do the 3 & 1/2 hour drive to Dorset on tuesday, only for the alternator belt to go that same day (monday). So instead of driving down to Dorset, I was stranded at home. Had to rearrange my full day of teaching today (shifted it to tomorrow), to catch the Elefant before she packs her trunk and heads back to the US of A.
