Looks like it was a good game.

But … and not meaning to diminish anyone's gaming fun … I look at the pics of the game board and it just doesn't suggest Ponyri to me at any level.

Ponyri is described as being a "little Stalingrad". The village itself was the scene of INTENSE urban fighting, with individual houses (eventually just individual piles of rubble) changing hands several times. The high cround outside of town, with it's railway cut, was a dominant feature in the battle.

I look at that table and what I see doesn't bring Ponyri to mind. Doesn't mean it wasn't a fun battle for the participants. And maybe it was Ponyrish enough for them. Just doesn't say "Ponyri" to me.
